Continuous Professional Learning Committee
The Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) Committee has a primary
goal of promoting Continuing Professional Learning opportunities
for members of MPPI through a number of activities such as:
- A Mentorship Program for students and
professional practitioners
- Facilitating stronger ties with faculty
and students in the Department of City Planning at the University
of Manitoba
- Hosting breakfast seminars and workshops
on various planning topics
- Involvement in organizing CPL related
activities at planning conferences
Events Committee
The Events Committee's primary goal is to provide timely, relevant
and valued benefits and services to MPPI members. This is achieved
through a number of initiatives including:
- Coordinating an annual fall general meeting
- Coordinating an annual fundraising golf
tournament
- Linking conference activities with other
MPPI committee activities and events
- Planning special events regarding timely
and relevant planning issues
- Implementing a membership recruitment
and retention strategy to expand and increase interaction of MPPI
membership in Institute affairs
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for reviewing all membership
applications including:
- Verifying application information submitted
by candidates
- Reviewing log books and portfolios
- Administering written examinations and
oral interviews for candidates for full membership
In considering applications for membership, the Committee follows
the requirements set forth in the Canadian Institute of Planners’
membership guidelines contained in Schedule “A”
of CIP By-law No. 1 (1986) and the CIP Membership
Manual. In addition, the Committee responds to membership inquiries
from members and prospective members and participates in an annual
review of CIP membership guidelines and procedures with the national
membership committee and membership committee representatives from
all provincial affiliates.
Communications and Events Committee
The Communications and Events Committee's primary goal is to provide timely information to MPPI members through the e-bulletin and website, as well as to provide opportunities for networking and professional development. This is achieved through a number of initiatives including:
- Coordinating the annual fall general meeting
- Coordinating an annual fundraising golf tournament
- Planning special events such as breakfast seminars and workshops on timely and relevant planning issues
- Participating in the annual Manitoba Planning Conference and linking conference activities with other MPPI events
- Implementing a membership recruitment and retention strategy to expand and increase interaction of MPPI membership in Institute affairs
