The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) has been dedicated to
the advancement of responsible planning throughout Canada since
1919.
Mission Statement
"To become the national advocate for effective planning
that meets the challenge of a changing world and that supports
planners in their professional practices to help create healthy,
sustainable and liveable communities.”
CIP Objectives
To ensure the profession is more influential in shaping public
policy by focusing on national issues and offering specific recommendations
to federal government decision-makers
To create a positive image and develop a strong profile for planning
and planners as professionals
To expand knowledge in planning and to promote innovative thinking
in the provision of planning products and services
To provide a variety of high quality and cost-effective services
to members
To provide competent, efficient and cost-effective administrative
support for carrying out the Institute’s business
